THE STORY

Inspect Point was founded in 2014 to help fire & life safety professionals digitize the fire inspection process. As the company grew, so did its mission to empower customers to improve efficiency and boost profitability at every workflow stage—from alarm system design and installation to inspections, maintenance, and service.

As fire inspection became more complex, new products were launched in the market, but they were general field service management or point solutions for inspection only. Inspect Point recognized the opportunity to capitalize on industry momentum and continue to purpose-build a fully connected fire protection ecosystem.

In late 2021, Mainsail Partners made a $28 million investment in Inspect Point to help the founders realize their vision, invest further in the product and increase the value it delivers to customers.

“It would have taken us just as long to hire the AI talent as it did to build and launch Inspection Assistant with Mainsail AI Labs. Their team helped us focus on solving real customer pain points, driving measurable outcomes, and executing faster than we ever could have on our own.”

Talent Hiring & Development

Mainsail’s Talent Team worked with Inspect Point to hire an Executive Chairperson, Independent Board Director, Technology Board Advisor, CFO, VP of Sales, VP of Product, and VP of Marketing. They also introduced CEO and management team 360s, and three Inspect Point executives completed Mainsail’s Executive LEAP program for leadership development.

Develop and Launch an AI Agent

In early 2025, Inspect Point turned to its customers to discover where AI could add the most value in their current workflow. This customer-first approach guided Inspect Point to focus on reducing inspection errors, improving report quality, and accelerating proposal creation.

Mainsail AI Labs’ AI strategists, data architects and software engineers then worked alongside the Inspect Point team to define an outcomes-based AI roadmap, build a dedicated AI team, manage development sprints, and support pricing and packaging ahead of launch.

In October 2025, Inspect Point introduced Inspection Assistant, an embedded AI agent that helps fire and life safety technicians complete onsite work more efficiently by flagging issues in real time and producing cleaner reports for review. On average, technicians can potentially save 15-20 minutes per report—giving them roughly 33 hours back per month across a typical monthly volume of 100 inspections.

Go-to-Market and Operational Excellence

Mainsail and Inspect Point partnered to build out the company’s sales and marketing processes and establish a data-driven foundation for its next phase of growth. This included unifying their go-to-market strategy, strengthening outbound and partner channels, enriching sales data, and enhancing digital visibility across organic and AI-driven search.

To help enhance customer experience, Mainsail led a CX strategy workshop for Inspect Point focused on optimizing the end-to-end customer journey, organizational design, customer health monitoring, and help desk operations.

The teams also worked together to leverage customer surveys and interviews to evaluate proposed new product features and assess the potential impact of changes to the pricing structure.

Strategic M&A

As a key lever in the company’s growth plan, Mainsail and Inspect Point collaborated to form an M&A strategy, analyze adjacent markets, and source opportunities to broaden the company’s product capabilities and deepen its presence across the fire protection ecosystem.

In July 2023, Inspect Point acquired FormLink Systems to enhance its ability to serve a broad range of fire protection professionals with innovative and efficient solutions.

In April 2025, Inspect Point acquired FireCAD to expand the company’s capabilities beyond inspection and service management and help commercial fire alarm companies design faster, more accurate system plans.

OUTCOMES

As of late 2025, Inspect Point had served over 15,000 fire protection professionals and seen more than 4.5 million inspections completed through its platform. The company is a leader in shifting its industry from digital to intelligent, building and embedding technology that learns, connects, and elevates the fire protection industry.

The partnership also embodies the mission of Mainsail AI Labs to help companies build and launch AI solutions focused on high-value, visible ROI for vertical market customers—in an effort to solve problems faster, cheaper, and more effectively than before.
