THE STORY

Before JobNimbus became a leading force in construction software, the company was born from a simple yet powerful vision: help roofing and residential contractors become heroes to their customers. The founders saw an opportunity to revolutionize the roofing industry by providing contractors with a core business management software that solves their greatest pain points and helps them operate more efficiently.

In 2013, JobNimbus was founded by three friends, Ben Hodson, Nick Wood, and Jason Wood, who combined their experience in programming, product innovation and serial entrepreneurship to create a purpose-built CRM and business management solution for contractors. As of June 2024, JobNimbus served more than 8,000 business owners across a range of home contractor service industries, including roofing, gutters, siding, solar, and exterior restoration.

JobNimbus enjoyed early success from 2013-2020, more than doubling its customers and employees in 2020 amid a surge in home improvement spending in the U.S. In 2021, Mainsail invested in JobNimbus, providing additional capital and strategic resources to help continue building out the platform, grow the team and deliver an innovative user experience.

Strengthened Go-To-Market

Through in-depth customer analysis, Mainsail helped JobNimbus narrow its Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) and re-align sales, marketing and product efforts to target the highest value customer segments. Mainsail also helped grow the company’s sales team by 4x, launch a cross-sell team to drive the adoption of ancillary products, and develop an industry benchmark report to establish JobNimbus as a thought leader and help drive inbound leads.

Built an experienced team:

Mainsail helped the company recruit key executives, including a CFO, VP of Product (now COO), VP of People, VP of Sales, and board members, who brought extensive industry expertise and leadership capabilities to JobNimbus. In addition, Mainsail’s LEAP program provided executive training to existing team members, helping enhance their strategic decision-making and leadership skills.

Grew payments processing volume:

Mainsail supported JobNimbus’ transition to a new payments provider and helped build out the team and process for onboarding new and existing customers to JobNimbus Payments. As a result, the company grew weekly payments processing volume by 1120% in 2 years.

Optimized pricing to match value:

Mainsail recommended simplifying JobNimbus’s pricing structure to encourage product expansion and helped implement price increases to better match price to value. It resulted in notable product expansion with minimal customer churn.

Strategic M&A:

Through its partnership with Mainsail, JobNimbus completed three strategic acquisitions: EngageCRM (February 2022), Roofer Marketers (March 2023), and SumoQuote (December 2023), which expanded JobNimbus’ customer base and product line, and it addressed key feature gaps.

OUTCOME

During Mainsail’s partnership with JobNimbus, the company has significantly expanded its product suite and customer base through strategic acquisitions and organic growth and solidified its position as a leader in the roofing software market.
